• Do use good quality cardboard storage boxes for ALL stored items and fill them to capacity. Partially full or bulging boxes may tip or collapse.
  • Do place polythene sheeting and dust covers on any unpacked items such as cabinets, tables, bureaus, antique furniture or any polished wood surfaces.
  • Do place heavy or bulky items in the unit first to provide a good stacking base and place items you need to get to most often near the front, close to the door.
  • Do make an inventory of all your stored items and label individual boxes.
  • Do leave refrigerator or freezer doors open for ventilation.
  • Do pack pictures and books in cardboard boxes.
  • Do make a list of what you have stored and its location to make finding items simpler.
  • Do break down large items if they come apart, they will generally take up less space.
  • Do make periodic inspection of the container for condensation and wellbeing of stored goods.

 

  • Don’t put wet or damp items into storage.
  • Don’t place any item into storage which may leak such as Dishwashers, Washing Machines, Freezers, Deep Fat Fryers etc. These MUST be fully drained prior to storage.
  • Don’t place storage boxes on top of sofas, armchairs etc
  • Don’t place loose items into storage such as pictures and books.
  • Don’t place uncovered cloths rails into storage.
